Chapter Six :: Voice//Text
Uh... Well, aside from the fog, lack of shelter, and the creepy whispers late at night... [Pauses. Lavi, why'd you bring that up?
Coughs.] What I wanted to ask is how is everyone? And if you've managed to find out exactly where you are in the city...
Granted it'd be a bit hard to meet up but if we can get some idea of where everyone is, where the buildings used to be... It might make things easier? I've already gone up into the sky but I couldn't find a break in the fog even a mile up.
Just...a thought. Probably a stupid one, but we don't know how long this'll last. Or what'll come out of the fog to get at us. Might be best to find someone or as many as we can and stick together, yeah?
[Silent for a little longer, as if mentally reviewing what he said.] I'm...along the river pretty well north of everything.
[He cuts the feed out. And then a few moments later it's back on.]
Oh, Kanda's birthday made me think of something. I know there are a few here I'm not familiar with but birthdays? We could do little parties for everyone if we've got the opportunity. Make the gloomy time here better...
[EDITED IN A BIT LATER//TEXT]
Everyone, if you can hear the river, head toward it. If you can find the bridge, even better. We'll all try and meet there, alright?

[Voice]
Proposing we make the most of this 'truce' are you boy?
[A pause.]
I can tell where most of you are, but I haven't tried to break through the fog yet.
[Voice]
...If you three are going to insist on it, then might as well. [Still doesn't sound like he's thrilled about the idea.]
Don't suppose you're going to make yourself useful then, are you?
[Voice]
Not at all, I could care less one way or the other. [Hard to tell if he cares or not.]
It does fall in my field of interests.
[There's a heavy sound of chains if you listen closely like as if something bound is rising up from the floor. It's followed by the clang of metal on stone, the scraping noise echoing in the fog. Tyki laughs softly, and even that doesn't sound right. The distance is too great and the voice too clear.]
Don't watch the sky. Wouldn't want to blind you.
[Voice]
What, having us all in one place make it harder to launch a secret attack?
[Lavi's not one to attack when things are like this anyway except in self-defense.]
Someone chain you up so you can't fly then?
[Voice]
You make it sound like I want to fight. The General was the trigger happy one. I just defended myself.
[At the question he laughs quietly, not pausing and the sound gets louder like it the chains are briefly being tugged at.]
...I'll have to get used to you not knowing our secrets. I can fly just fine.
[Voice]
He's always trigger happy. And if you're not fighting you're making trouble.
[Lavi's beginning to not want to listen to things in the background, they're reminding him too much of the noises of last night.]
Not like I knew them to begin with. [The normal ones.] Good for you.
[Voice]
So bias, one would think you had a bit of a grudge.
You knew some of them.
[With a rustle of feathers he takes to the sky after that. High overhead, there's a crack as the fog is obliterated with pale violet shafts of light cutting through the ground fog like spears. A howling roar echoes for what seems like an eternity and when it dies down everything simple snaps back into place. Refusing to be deterred by the display of power. The device clicks to video as Tyki approaches it. For a moment he's like a negative image burnt into the world with burning eyes and thick chains with shackles wound around his wrists, neck, and ankles. A mark burns brightly on his throat right above the collar. Then he's simply a man, peering into the device with wings folding back into himself.]
I can't break it. It wouldn't budge very far if, at all. I doubt even the lad back home could budge it.
I don't have a grudge, I simply like things better without any Noah around.
[Rolls his eye.] You're thinking of the one from whatever place you're from.
[Glancing at the sky but then Lavi's concentration is back on keeping what he can see of the river in sight. Still, he manages to take stock of all of this Tyki's new...accessories.]
Too bad they won't make you sink in the river.
Probably.
[He laughs at that, rolling a cigarette. There's some bitterness in it but hard to tell at what.]
That would be too easy a punishment to the children that fell.
Not like you couldn't just refuse the water to begin with.
True enough. And where's the fun in skating off Scott-free?
What? So you'd actually want to metaphorically drown?
Too thick to spot sarcasm?

Great. Company. Karkat should be the south one.
[Move it to the log you think?]
My double is with you, right?
[Yeeppper.]
Unfortunately.
